Bang Sue is one of the fifty districts present in Bangkok and is located in the north eastern part of the city. The neighbouring districts surrounding Bang Sue from the north in the clockwise direction are Thawi Bang Sue, Taling Chan, Phasi Charoen, Bang Bon, and Nong Khaem District. The name of the district is inspired by a canal Khlong Bang Sue, which links the Than Chin River to Klong Bangkok Yai. The construction for the canal was first commenced in 1866 and was completed in 1972 while the name was given after the man who had overseen the project. Phasi Charoen Sakha 1 district was combined with the Lak Song sub-district, formerly part of Nong Khaem District, to form a new district, called Khet Bang Sue. The district as established as Amphoe Bang Sue in the year 1899 and later, during the middle of 1972, the Amphoe was upgraded to the status of Khet Bang Sue. There are seven sub-districts within the land area covered by Bang Sue which is 17.834 square kilometres and houses a population of about 126,824 as per the records of the census conducted in the year 2017.
The district of Bang Sue is home to major tourist attractions as well as amenities for people staying there. Bang Sue market – This is a fairly large wet market in the district and is considered to be one of the largest markets in the entire country in the Thonburi and Bangkok side. Bang Sue Market is a market along the Khlong Phraya Ratcha Montri or simply Khlong Ratcha Montri. The area of the market has been identified as a traditional community.

Bang Sue District hosts an MRT Blue Line station at Bang Sue MRT Station, the interchange station between the Blue Line and MRT Purple Line at Tao Poon MRT Station and Purple Line Bang Son and Wong Sawang stations.
State Railway of Thailand (SRT) trains serve the Bang Sue Junction Railway Station.
In 2019 the district will be the site of a new central station for Bangkok, Bang Sue Central Station, along with a new business district. Three separate subway lines are being planned or constructed which will connect Bang Sue to other districts in Bangkok. Indeed, it is located in a neighbouring area, Chatuchak Subdistrict of Chatuchak District. The cost of living is extremely inexpensive, for example, the total cost needed to get by for a month in this district is about 60,000 Baht. The prices of properties too are on the higher side than as seen in other areas but cheaper pieces of property can be found towards the outskirts of the district. Whereas if you choose to live near the locations like College of Management Mahidol University (CMMU) or Priest Hospital, the prices have been seen to go up a bit. There is no better way of settling in than in your own property. The option of paying monthly rentals isn’t the most ideal way if you’re settling down for longer periods of time. With rent prices of townhouses varying from 15,000 to around 30,000 Baht for rent if you’re looking to stay near the district’s main area that is nearer to the railway stations and various other amenities.
