Loei is a province located in the upper north eastern part of Thailand and is one of the seventy-seven provinces in the country. The neighbouring provinces surrounding Loei from the east in the clockwise direction would be Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Nongbua Lamphu, Khon Kaen, Phetchabun, Phitsanulok. In the north, it borders Xaignabouli and Vientiane Province of Laos. The province of Loei is mostly mountainous, but the Loei town is in a fertile land which is surrounded by mountains. The most famous mountains in the area include Phu Kradueng, Phu Luang, and Phu Ruea. The Loei River is a tributary of the bigger Mekong River and flows through the province and is a part of the northern boundary separating the province from Laos. According to legend, the province was founded by the people from Lan Na kingdom, but later due to manifesting diseases and ling droughts, the residents moved to the present location of the Loei province. Later during the year 1907, the province of Loei was established by King Chulalongkorn. The total land area of present day Loei is about eleven and a half thousand square kilometres and houses a sparse population of 642,773 as per the records of the census conducted in the year 2018. The province is divided into fourteen districts, which are then further divided into eighty-nine subdistricts and 839 villages.
The province of Loei has attracted tourists from all walks of life for generations and is the most sparsely populated province in the country. Kaeng Khut Khu
This is a bend alongside the Mekong river and is a popular stop among tourists as the location is so serene and calming. The scenery consists of clear water with picturesque mountains in the background and if you are lucky you may be able to witness the waterfall which becomes more prominent if the water flow is good. Not too far from the town, the place is also good for trying out some of the best Thai delicacies such as the popular dancing shrimp or a bowl of live shrimp.
Phu Bo Bit Forest Park

The most you have to do is climb up a flight of 1400 steps which would only reward you with an all-round view of the whole town at the summit. Single houses or villas can also be found at a significantly lower cost from the downtown area of the province with the price ranging from 1,600,000 Baht to 16,000,000 Baht.
