Phrae is one of the 77 provinces in Thailand and is located in the upper northern part of the country. The neighbouring provinces surrounding Phrae are Phayao, Nan, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, and Lampang, that is if you count the provinces from the north in the clockwise direction. The province is situated in the river valley of Yom River. There are abundant mountains in the province with The Phi Pan Nam Range situated on the western side of the province and runs all the way from north to south, along with the Phuleng Range on the eastern side of the Phrae province. The province has been around for quite some time and its history dates back to as far as the Haripunchai kingdom of the Mon people. Later, it was taken in as a part of Lan Na kingdom in the year 1443 when King Tilokaraj had was out on a voyage with the hope of capturing the Nan province. The total land area of the province is about six and a half thousand square kilometres and it houses a population of 445,090 as per the records of the census conducted in 2018. The province of Phrae is divided into eight districts, which are then further subdivided into seventy-eight subdistricts and six hundred and forty-five villages.
Although the province of Phrae is still to some extent unmapped for tourists, it is a place with numerous thrilling locations and is certain to take unassertive tourists for a great time during their visit to the province. Wat Phra That Cho Hae Festival
This festival is located on a small hill that is approximately ten kilometres from Phrae in the southeast direction. The temple where the festival is held is a very popular Wat and innumerable people visit the royal site every day. The temple has been around a long time but the exact time of its foundation is still not known to people. The festival is held at the temple once a year, every year during the months February to March. The festival includes devotees going around the Chedi and offer food and supplies to monks with lighted candles in their hands. An excellent fair is held around the Wat with music, food and dance celebrations.
Phae Mueang Phi Forest Park:
This forest park is famous for its naturally formed rock structures which are formed by natural phenomenon like soil erosion. Walking around the area of the park and taking in the extravagance of nature is one of the best things for you to do in the province. The name of the area translates to “city of ghosts” and rightly so because the structures which are made up of sandstone take various shapes and can be described as scary if someone happens to see the edifices suddenly in the dark. Another thing to do is exploring the dark caves in the area and the environment is worth taking some pictures to capture the moment.
Despite its exciting locations and serene sceneries, the province of Phrae typically follows a laid-back form of lifestyle. The prices of commodities needed for sustaining life in this province is significantly lower than most urban countries like the Americas. You will be assured to know that the cost of items like groceries is extremely cheap and even the properties in this province are affordable to the masses. The minimum that you have to spend in order to maintain a standard lifestyle in the province is around 20,000 Baht if you choose to rent a studio condo in the downtown area, if you are looking to live at a rented single house in the same location you would have to spend around 30,000 to 50,000 Baht a month depending on your lifestyle and rent.
The real estate market in Phrae is flexible and suits the needs of both families and students who are looking to settle down in the province. If you are looking to rent a property, you can find condos, townhouses and single houses at your disposal. The rent for a one-bedroom studio condo is around 7,000 Baht if you choose to settle down in the downtown area or closer to institutions like the Phrae Technical College or the Phrae Vocational Education College. Condos for rent with multiple bedrooms, as much as three, can be found in the heart of the city with the rent hiking to as much as 25,000 Baht. Townhouses are also available in the province with rent ranging from 8,000 Baht to 10,000 Baht again in the main area of the province. If you prefer to live in a or single house or villa for rent located in the downtown area, it would cost you around 20,000 to 30,000 Baht. The rent drops significantly if you move a little farther from the said locations, you can find a studio condo at a rent of 4,000 Baht and single houses and townhouses can be found at a rent of about 8,000 Baht and 10,000 to 18,000 Baht respectively.
If you are looking to buy your piece of property in Phrae, the process is going to be very simple. Although most of the country is looking for villas to settle down, the condos in the province of Phrae are attracting much more attention. You can get a one-bedroom condo from a reputed developer at around 1,200,000 Baht if you are looking to settle down in the heart of the province, the prices of townhouses are somewhat similar and can be found at a price of around 1,200,000 Baht to 1,800,000 Baht at the same location. If you choose to settle down in a luxurious three-bedroom condo, it would be a little harder to find and the price shoots up a bit to around 2,500,000 Bhat to 7,000,000 Baht just on the sale price. Whereas a single house or villa for sale is more readily available in the province and the prices in the downtown area range from about 1,500,000 Baht to 30,000,000 Baht depending on the size of the property. If you choose to move away from the prime locations in the province the prices can be seen to drop expressively with studio condos available at a price of 600,000 Baht. Finding three-bedroom condos in the outskirts of the province can be a tedious job and the prices drop to as much as 1,800,000 Baht, prices of townhouses have also been seen to drop to as much as 1,000,000 Baht to 1,500,000 Baht on the sale price. Single houses or villas for sale can also be found at lower prices from the downtown area with the sale price ranging from 1,500,000 to 15,000,000 Baht.
The properties in the province have been seen to be affordable to almost anyone who is looking to settle down in Phrae. The area holds its appeal to expats and investors alike.
