Ranong is one of the southern provinces in the country of Thailand and is one of the seventy-seven provinces present in the country. The province has the lowest population among all the other provinces in Thailand. The neighbouring provinces surrounding Ranong from the north in the clockwise direction would be Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Phang Nga. To the west, it borders Kawthaung, Tanintharyi, Myanmar. The province lies on a narrow strip of land that connects the Malay Peninsula with Thailand and is known as the Kra Isthmus. Ranong features a long coast within its boundaries from the Andaman Sea in the west and along with Trat, Ranong is one of the wettest areas of the country. The province was originally a deputy town of Chumphon which served as a protecting shield for the Chumphon from Burma. The total land area covered by the province is 3,298 square kilometres while housing a population of 191,868 as per the records of the census in 2018. There are five districts present within the province which are further divided into 30 subdistricts and 167 villages.

This is a palace located above a hill right in the centre of the town. The palace that tourists are able to see now is a replica which was finished in 2015 in place of the original structure that was built as a place to stay for King Chulalongkorn during the late 18th century. The palace can be found on the provincial seal and is a must visit for anyone near its vicinity. The structure was first opened as a museum in 2016 and comes with a three-tiered tower along with the main sleeping area and a long corridor.
Raksawarin Hot Springs
This is arguably the most famous and one of the busiest places of attraction near Ranong, the place appeals to both locals and tourists and they have a chance to sit with their feet in public pools, choose to have a luxury dip or even relax and stare at the beauty of the Phemphon River. There is the facility of taking the water from the hot springs and bathe in slightly larger pools, massage parlours can also be found right across the street and it would cost you around 600 Baht for a private jacuzzi tub with spa treatments and massages.
