Later rearrangements of boundaries led the district to fall under the Thonburi district as an amhoe, it moved around two more districts namely, Nakhon Khuan Khan and Samut Prakan District before returning to Thonburi. Latern in 1988, a part of the Rat Burana district was split off to form a new district by the name Thung Khru.
