The total land area covered by the district is about 7.126 square kilometres and it houses within itself a population of about 72,304 as per the records of the census conducted in 2017. The district is crossed by the BTS Skytrain in three stations, Ratchathewi, Phaya Thai and Victory Monument. The Bangkok MRT line also passes through the district with one station Phetchaburi. The area around the current Makkasan Railway Station is under creation for the Airport Link to Suvarnabhumi Airport. The area is going to become City Air Terminal integrated with check in facility and non-stop conveyance via trains to the airport. The terminal also has an interchange to MRT Phetchaburi station.
