Part of the Bangkok Metropolitan Region, Samut Prakan is one of the central provinces in Thailand. Created during the Ayutthaya Kingdom, it was the seaport to Siam which was heavily defended by forts and walls. The region is bordered by Bangkok on the north and west and Chachoengsao in the east. The part of the province on the western part of the Chao Phraya River is predominantly covered with mangrove forests, shrimp farms and rice paddy fields while the eastern part features great urbanisation including many factories. The region proudly boasts around 47 kilometres of coastline.

Being so close to the coastline, the region mainly has a tropical climate witnessing more rainfall in the summer than the winter months.

  1. The Crocodile Farm and Zoo: This farm is the largest of its kind in the entire world. Apart from various crocodiles, there are many shows that you can also enjoy.
