Sing Buri is one of the seventy-six provinces of Thailand and is located in the central region of the country. The province is located on the flat river plains of the Chao Phraya River valley and thus, makes more than eighty per cent of the province’s land suitable for agriculture. The city was originally in the banks of the Chaksi River but was relocated to the west of the Noi River and then to Pak Bang Krathong in the Ton Pho subdistrict. The city was moved finally to its current position in the year 1917 when it was renamed from Bang Phutsa to Sing Buri. The total land area of the province comprises of eight hundred and two square kilometres and houses a population of 209,377 as per the records of the census conducted in 2018. Sing Buri is divided into six districts, which are then further divided into forty-five subdistricts and three hundred and sixty-four villages.
