Tak is a province located in the lower northern part of Thailand and is one of the seventy-seven provinces in the country. The neighbouring provinces surrounding Tak from the north in the clockwise direction are Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani and Kanchanaburi. The western edge of the province has a long boundary with Kayin State of Myanmar (Burma). The area of Tak was established even before the Sukhothai period and dates as far back as 2,000 years ago. Later, it became a part of the of the Sukhothai kingdom as a result of the battles led by Ramkhamhaeng the Great. One fourth of the population in Tak comprises of tribal people living on the hills, the tribes are Yao, Karen, Lahu, Hmong and Lisu. The province of Tak is fairly larger than most of the provinces in the country, stretching over a land area of 16,407 square kilometres and houses a population of 654,676 as per the records of the census conducted in 2018. Tak museum

The museum is the most visited place in Tak, as it houses some of the most attractive and historical houses have been preserved including an old governor residence which was remodelled into the museum. The age of the house easily goes back a hundred and fifty years, maybe even more and there are woodcarvings abundant in its vicinity. The house also features more open air windows than you can count and it is said that the King Bhumibol and Queen Sikrit stayed here at some point.

King Taksin Shrine

The shrine was originally built near the west bank of the Ping River at the Wat Doi Khao Kaeo, it was moved to its current location in 1947. This was at the same time when the Fine Arts Department of Thailand decided to get together for making a life-size statue of the Great King which was to be kept at a marble mondop built in Thai-style. The king is seen to sit with his sword on his lap and wearing his trademark pointed hat.

Single houses on sale can also be found at lower prices from the downtown area with the sale price ranging from 1,500,000 to 15,000,000 Baht.
