Situated in the Phuket Province of Thailand, Kathu is a district located in the west of Phuket Island. The district is bordered by Mueang Phuket to its east and Thalang to the north. The western borders of Kathu are marked by the Andaman Sea. Best known for Patong, the tourist beach, Kathu was downgraded as a subordinate of the district of Mueang Phuket District in 1938.
